When it rains, it pours.
And hails, and tornadoes and floods.
And quakes....again.
ALL AT THE SAME TIME IN OKLAHOMA
LAST NIGHT!
But I kept my cool this time, peoples and puppies.
Just chilled on the sofa.
'Cuz my mama was nearby, that's why.
An besides, the quake was a small one, 4.7 on that Richard scale.
(Who IS that guy, anyway?)
Mama said this one felt more like sitting on a whoopee cushion.
(Aha! So it's Richard's fault!)
I think Richard must be Mother Nature's puppy.
She sure does like him.
LOVES,
TOOTIE
Note from Ninny:
Oklahoma has experienced hundreds of earthquakes this year. Most have been small and barely felt and may have been caused by fracking (A slang term used for hydraulic fracturing when rock is fractured by drillers to allow more oil and gas to flow freely in wells..) Oklahoma has extensive oil and natural gas wells across the state and fracking is quite common. However the two big earthquakes we had over the weekend were along an active fault line that runs north and south through Oklahoma about 30 miles from where Tootie lives. These quakes were felt all over the state except for the extreme corners and we've experienced dozens of aftershocks the past few days. I hear that's a good thing! Ninny

I read about all the earthquakes. Glad that everyone is safe!
There has been talk of Fracking near where I live - I have only heard bad things about it and there is a big campaign to prevent it happening.
Oh my goodness - so pleased that you and the family are all okay.
Ninny ~ I did not feel last night's quake because I was on the bed and had just finished stretching and decided to do a few leg lifts for good measure. The husband came in and reported the quake and I had to turn on the news before I believe him! I'm ready for the ground to stop moving.
Al that crazy weather would skeer me a little bit, or a lot!!
Lovies, Miss Mindy
Rock Chef - fracking is controversial here, too. It does cause small tremors, but Oklahoma has experienced earthquakes along this fault line in previous years. Recently our quake activity has intensified but geologist say the relief of pressure is a good thing.
I think if this 'fracking' thing is a good thing, it would still make me nervous!
I guess they work on the theory that lots of little shocks is much better than one really big one, which I am sure is right.
But surely combining frack mining with an active fault line isn't a good idea?
Tootie when the earth moves under your feet, chilling on the couch with your momma sounds like a safe bet. It must be pretty nerve racking feeling all these little tremors from aftershocks. It's good to keep your sense of humor in these situations Tootie. Be safe. Ninny, the fracking you describe sounds like it plays havoc with Mother Nature, since it causes quakes. Kinda of scary. But since the fault lies elsewhere for the ones you felt over the weekend, all you can do is wait for them to stop. Hang in there.
Yes, it's a good thing. If not, we might have the "big" one. That would be bad. Give Tootie a hug for me.
stay safe tootie, look after your mama.
Poor Tootie! You look so scared!
To have so many things go on this week in your home state!
I love the "whoopie cushion" definition. LOL
I would rather have an earthquake than a tornado any day!
I've been through several including a 7.2!
And yes, the little nerve wracking aftershocks are taking pressure off the rocks below the fault line.
I bet Mama is right as to who is causing them! :)
Glad you all are strong! Poor Oklahoma, getting it from all sides! Hang in there Liz!
I heard about fracking on the Weather Channel today...I guess in OK you can really say, "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute, it will change!"
Y'all stay safe, ya hear?
xoxo

I lived in Okla my entire life until 8 years ago. I've experienced many tornados but never an earthquake, or at least one I felt. Certainly a strange year for Oklahoma weather.
Oh, nature DOES do things scare us.
I feel like enouhg is enough!!!
It was quite relieving that you are OK. I'm sure it must have been a bit horrifying experience, because you'll never know how big it will be.
PS> oh, we have one thing in common!!! I do the same thing you said that dip my good ear close to hear well. Hate the aging, haha.
Love and Lots of Hugs to you, Orchid*
I do not like storms, but I do like rain just not wind with it. Be safe Tootie Girl
